Because it is the point at which the 'colors' meet. I think the latitudinal orientation of the 'bands' of 'color' are going to give rise to the relationship between the elements that make up Jupiter. Hypothetically, Why does a band of nitrogen sit above a band of helium?

Examining the interface of the belts and zones of Jupiter will provide valuable insight into the atmospheric composition of the planet.

I find that finding out the reason for these interactions is vital in determining how these elements are effected by Jupiter's gravity and atmosphere.
