Photograph the limb of the atmosphere, back-lit by the sun, to gauge the opacity of the outer atmosphere. This will show whether the atmosphere is thin and transparent or 'thick and chewy'.

    Photographing the limb of the atmosphere to see the thickness of the planet will be a valuable look in to the atmosphere of this planet in order to further understand this planet. Not to mention that it would be a beautiful photo.

    I think this would make a great picture. One of my favorite pictures is the Earth's atmosphere, and think this would make for a good comparison picture.
